Driving Impressions: Test Driving the 2018 Mazda CX-5
During a recent test drive of the 2018 Mazda CX-5, we were impressed by its smooth and responsive handling. The CX-5’s steering is precise and well-weighted, making it easy to maneuver through tight turns and crowded city streets. The suspension is also well-tuned, providing a comfortable ride even on rough roads.
Under the hood, the CX-5 offers a choice of two engines: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, or a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that cranks out 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Standard on all trims is Mazda’s Smart City Brake Support, which can automatically apply the brakes in emergency situations. Other available safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
Overall, our test drive of the 2018 Mazda CX-5 left us thoroughly impressed.
